3D Modelling 101

A Mindful & Caring Usage Workshop for General Public [all] by Namrata Mehta, Dhruv Nagpal and Solidry

Dates: 2014-10-25 - 2014-10-25 Venue: Workshop Room

Using simple designs that demonstrate the capabilities of 3d programming and advantages of 3d printing as a manufacturing process, this workshop will introduce participants to the basic tools required in the 3d printing process.

3D modeling software: TinkerCAD / Blender 3D printer: Prusa i3 Printing Material: ABS

Main Description

This workshop will introduce participants to the basics of 3D programming, beginning to creating a model and ending with converting it to a format readable by 3D Printers. Participants will be asked to imagine (in their heads), design (on paper) and model (on their computers) an object of their choice within a restricted dimension of 3 x 3 inches. Once the model has been created, participants will export their files as .stls and convert them into gcode for ideal and optimum prints.

Participants will be expected to bring laptops

Participants will then be shown how to print their models using Prusa i3 being demonstrated by Solidry, a 3d printing services company that will be at hill hacks from the 22nd to the 26th of October.

Software: TinkerCAD / Blender + Slic3r
