Abstract

This workshop will introduce you to the tools and techniques you need to implement beautiful and useful typography in your next web or screen-based project.

The majority of content on the web is text, which means typography choices are critical design choices. Usability, accessibility and engagement are dependent upon type. Designers, developers, strategists, and clients – anyone involved in the making process—all have a stake in typography. Knowing what typographic details to focus on while choosing a typeface is empowering. This workshop will introduce you to the tools and techniques you need to implement beautiful and useful typography in your next project.

Speaker

Rebecca Mushtare is designer, researcher and teacher. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Web Design and Multimedia at the State University of New York at Oswego and the Education Director for the Upstate New York Chapter of AIGA. Her current research interests include design for social change, designing with and for aging populations, and gender and technology. Rebecca earned her MFA in Computer Art from Syracuse University and her BFA from the State University of New York at Oswego. Rebecca regularly exhibits her creative work and has published multiple articles on community based learning and design education.
