How the Internet works using Open Source software.

A Talk by digen, at Main Conference

Abstract

Interesting insights( videos, websites, demos on the command line ) showing how the Internet works using Open Source Software.

This talk is influenced by Jessica McKellar's talk[1]. Having said that, there is a lot of content which I demo in the talk based on things that I've explored over the years.

Main Description

The purpose of this talk to to demonstrate the functioning of the Internet using various Open Source software such as Wireshark, dig, etc and by using the Python programming language.

The agenda of this talk is to demonstrate Open Source commands, tools and software with which one can get a deeper understanding of how the Internet works. The added benefit of attending this talk is that you'll get enough practical information to troubleshoot Internet issues at home/office :-) At the end of the talk, hoping to make sure that the audience has fun and that they learn something useful. There is no prerequisite to attend this talk and the only requirement is your time.

Gave this talk in part at fosstr last Saturday[1], was going to continue with the remaining part on 9th May, however, based on request from members I'll be giving the entire talk.[2] I will try recording it and upload it on Youtube.
