A Workshop by James Walker, and anyone else who knows sql/database, at Unconference
Learn or review the basics of SQL and database.
This is an introduction to the basics of SQL programming and SQL databases, by someone who writes and maintains real code on live websites for many years.
SQL is “Structured Query Language”, and is the language we use to talk to many databases. We will be using MySQL/MariaDB, with PHPMyadmin and command-line mysql as clients. We will be geting an overview of what a database is and how it works, along with the basic SQL commands.
Even if you are not a programmer or a web developer, it can be helpful to have an idea how things work underneath when you are visiting websites.
Your good brain.
Your laptop with Internet connection. On your laptop you could also have MySQL/MariaDB installed, and maybe apache and phpmyadmin, but not necessary, we can learn the basics online.
