Let's Save Our Triund

A Talk by @@Your Name/Nick@@, at

Abstract

Triund is a serene, scenic, meadow in the lap of the Dhauladhars , which is under intense ecological pressure as around 2000 people are reaching this fragile place without awareness and concern about its ecological importance especially to the water system of the region.

We want to save the place by bringing all the stakeholders on board and device a sustaible plan for its prerevation and conservation.

Main Description

We have been meeting up with the various stakeholders for the Triund project. There are few things with demand immediate attention and action as per the discussions: Preservation and conservation is for the main impetus, we need a cap on number of visitors, we are having literally more than one hundred tents on this pristine meadow at times, like this we are going to devastate it.

We don’t have any water up there from any natural source, forget drinking water, we don’t have for it even for rest rooms, and open defecation is the norm. Don’t understand how are these travel agents letting this happen? (and they are billing each group in lakhs)
Fleecing the people is a norm, a pack of cooked Maggie noodles can cost between 120-150 bucks there are no rate lists, its jungle raj in this aspect. We also have two concrete private structures and half a dozen sheds (it’s a reserve forest area). We need all the waste to come down every day from the shopkeepers as well as the tourists. We can promote trash collection by providing bags and souvenirs to whom so ever bring back more than s/he takes up. There are few more things which can be incorporated for saving our Triund….
