A Workshop by Raju D. Vindane (libregeekingkid), at Main Conference
A PS2 controller is not just for playing games on your console. Interface it with an Arduino and start controlling things. Don't just control a car in your console games, level up and start controlling a robot(or almost anything) with your PS2 controller.
PS: This is the first one of the few proposals that I would be submitting. You can accept some or all of them for the main conference.
Control almost anything? Most of the things that we need to control are usually having binary states that is either on or off, Like lights. Or they are having variable controls like a fan. A fans speed varies from slow to the fastest. Or sometimes they can be a combination of both of these. Like a simple (or complex) robot, which has both of the above mentioned type of controls, like a two state device like a light on the robot or its wheels which will have varying speeds. Or you may need to control the electronic arm on the robot precisely. The need to control these devices can be done by using simple switches or potentiometers.
But nothing beats the precise control and usability of a console controller.
For this workshop we will be using a wired Play Station Controller to control things with varying complexity from a simple LED to a complex robot.
The workshop will involve some electronics work like connecting a few wires here and there and some coding work as well.
Codes will be a major highlight of this workshop. This workshop would be a treat for those who don't like the coding part but have a love for algorithms (including me).
