Code for Creativity

A FlashTalk by Rebecca Mushtare, at Unconference

Abstract

Rebecca Mushtare will discuss how she uses code to spark creativity as a maker/artist as well as how she uses code to spark creativity in her audiences. She will share recent projects as case studies.

Main Description

Code can be used to create websites and apps but can also be used to create artworks or installations. Although we often associate code with screens, code can be used to create interfaces and components of projects that are “hidden.” Mushtare will discuss how she uses code to spark creativity as a maker/artist, as well as how she uses code to spark creativity in her audiences. She will discuss recent projects including: “Circle Drawings,” “Matrilineage,” and “StoryQuilt” and will share what software she developed and how the software was used in each project.
