I N V I T A T I O N (2014)

Call for Participation and Papers

(Direct link to the submission form)

This is an invitation to something new: People interested and working on/in/about technology in its widest sense get together within the stunning backdrop of the lower Himalayas. Very much inspired from the CCC/C3-events we want to have a fruitful exchange on a list of topics that is endless. This invitation comes from a dynamic group of volunteers, and you can be part of them!

We invite you to come up here to the hills for a non-commercial community-run event, and we invite you propose sessions on various topics: Not only focused on the geeky technology interest, but on the greater exchange of knowledge, sharing ideas to contribute to an open and free society and world to live in.

"It is probably true quite generally that in the history of human thinking
the most fruitful developments frequently take place at those points where
two different lines of thought meet. These lines may have their roots in quite
different parts of human culture, in different times or different cultural
environments or different religious traditions: hence if they actually meet,
that is, if they are at least so much related to each other that a real
interaction can take place, then one may hope that new and interesting
 developments may follow."
quote from Werner Heisenberg - Fruitful Developments Where Thought Meet

The format may include (but not limited to)

  • Talks, workshops, games, contests, hackathons, etc for the conference itself (audience will be like-minded, technology interested people)
  • Workshops, games and teaching for kids (please let us know the age and language group you want to focus on)
  • Talks and workshops for the general public (audience will be the people from the area of Dharamshala: Indians, Tibetans and internationals from all over the world)
  • Projects you want to demonstrate, work, research and develop on site (you can take weeks of time up here!) ++ More (unfold) === The topics can include (but not limited to) Check out our [[:what ++

Who is invited?

Free-thinkers, tinkerers and creative minds, artists, techies and hobbyists, hackers and makers, crafters and scientiest, humanists and engineers, activists and coders, geeks and nerds, designers and philosophers, roboters and artifical intelligences, and other interesting beings doing interesting stuff.

We invite people to share, demonstrate, teach and talk about the **things they love**. It doesn't have to be about technology, but from people that show passion in what they do.

The whole event will be happen in a very **simple environment**. Leave your suits at home and rather pack your camping gear (if you like), but definitively bring all your hardware, multi-power-sockets, lamps and lights, arduinos and raspberries, soldering irons and everything else idling in your geek-place :)

Sounds good!

Please show us your interest by adding yourself on the collection of interested participants. As this is the first time of hillhacks we have no clue how many people are willing to come. For planning it would be really important to let us know if you are up for such an experience! In this way you also have your place reserved, even if you're not decided so far.

We are working solely on a voluntary basis and no one is earning anything financially. Still we might be able to reduce the entry fee for you and even chip in for your travel and accommodation expenses.

There are tools available, either hardware and software, e.g. a bunch of laptops and some soldering irons, mobile repairing tools and even some carpentry tools. There will be projectors and sound system in the halls, too.

Wanna contribute? (Submission for papers and workshops)

Submission are done directly via the wiki: If you unsure or just don't feel confident about your idea/proposal/submission feel free to contact us e.g. via direct email mail@thisdomain, chat or the mailinglist.

Submissions can include multiple things and can have multiple forms. Please go ahead and check out our Submission form.

Ah, and last but not least: **We do not care if your submission was already held somewhere else before!**

"Hackers believe that essential lessons can be learned about the systems—about
the world—from taking things apart, seeing how they work, and using this
knowledge to create new and more interesting things."
Steven Levy - Hands-On Imperative
